This year, for its 8th annual Christkindlmarkt, the Heurich House Museum will double both the outdoor footprint and number of vendors. Visitors can wander through a festive German-style market in the museum’s garden and on the sidewalk of New Hampshire Avenue NW from Friday, December 3rd through Sunday, December 5th, 2021. By increasing the space of the market, the Museum will be able to host even more small-scale local businesses.

Christkindlmarkt is the museum’s largest annual fundraiser and supports our Small Business Development Program, which during the pandemic supported hundreds of local small businesses. Christkindlmarkt this year features its most diverse group of vendors; 46% of vendors identify as being part of an underrepresented community.

For the first time, the museum is offering a “Holiday Cheer” ticket, which includes one alcoholic beverage from a curated menu featuring Senate Beer, Glühwein, and a selection of locally crafted drinks. Tickets will be sold online until December 2nd (General Admission $10, Holiday Cheer $16) and at the door (General Admission $13, Holiday Cheer $19). The General Admission fee includes all-day admission to the market. Food and refreshments (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available for purchase at the market.

New to Christkindlmarkt 2021 This Year:

On Friday night, DC Brau will be at the bar with two beers, Your Pet Cow (Barrel Aged Milk Stout - has lactose) and Auld Dubliner (Amber Ale). Visitors who purchase a DC Brau beer will receive a ticket to enter a raffle. The first 100 visitors at the bar on Friday night will receive glassware from the brewery.

Also Friday night, the German Embassy will host a booth for visitors to learn more about their work and the relationship between the United States and Germany. Saturday and Sunday, the Museum will host its first ever Kids tent featuring festive ornament making and a game for children. This activity is free of charge. The market will welcome food trucks Saturday and Sunday. DC’s newest food truck, Petit Afrik, will serve Afro-fusion cuisine on Saturday. On Sunday, long-time DC favorite, Timber Pizza Co, will serve wood-fired pizza. Dessert both Saturday and Sunday will be served by Captain Cookie.

2021 Market Hours:

Friday, December 3rd: 4-8pm

Saturday, December 4th: 12-8pm

Sunday, December 5th: 12-6pm

The museum’s historic house will be closed for tours out of an abundance of caution and the health and safety of our staff and volunteers. For more information, a full list of vendors and to purchase tickets, visit or @heurichchristmas on Instagram.
