Embassy of Guatemala
2220 R Street NW
The Embassy of Guatemala will be showcasing the art of Guatemalan painter Jonathan Ardón (@nathan_ardon), along with a selection of handmade crafts that visitors can purchase.

Jonathan Ardon’s birds, like obsessive thoughts, are brief and intense—unsettling the viewer with the fierce scrutiny of their hypnotic, unblinking gaze. Stripped of passivity, these birds confront us directly, their most vivid life—their realism—concentrated between the head and chest. This area, rendered with dramatic chiaroscuro, contrasts sharply with the rest of their bodies, which are reduced to skeletal outlines of form and concept. Deprived of detailed plumage, these limbs are not meant to seduce the senses but to unsettle the mind—with the eloquent, symbolic language of clipped wings and sharp claws.

There will also be live music and poetry to enjoy.
